Trans Bodies, Trans Selves is a resource guide for transgender populations, covering health, legal issues, cultural and social questions, history, theory, and more. It is a place for transgender and gender-questioning people, their partners and families, students, professors, guidance counselors, and others to look for up-to-date information on transgender life. Trans Bodies, Trans Selves will be published by Oxford University Press in Spring 2014.
Each chapter of Trans Bodies, Trans Selves is being written by separate transgender or genderqueer authors. Included in each section will be anonymous quotes from everyday people who have taken the Trans Bodies Surveys. Short opinion pieces and testimonials will also be included in each chapter, as well.
I’ve had the pleasure of working on the project as an editor over the last year, and as we approach our final deadline to the publisher, we have identified a few opportunities for additional contributors to help us round out the book with short, personal essays (1-3 paragraphs) on a handful of topics: Families, Relationships, and Sexuality.
If you—as a trans or gender non-conforming person, or a partner/parent/child/lover of a TGNC person!—are interested in submitting a piece about any of these topics, or sharing publishable, high-resolution photographs of you and your partners, dates, children, or lovers, we want to hear from you!
These are short, personal, (unpaid) contributions. We want to show the diversity of happy, healthy, loving trans folks and their families and partners! We want to hear your stories about hard problems you’ve faced and how you are solving them! We want to hear about intimate moments and important moments and affirming experiences. We can publish your story anonymously, or with a byline. Help us out!
